ABOUT
I am passionate about the ocean, marine life & the sea. My whole life always revolved around the ocean & I grew up living by it. My Father is & was a Geology Graduate from Wits University who did his Thesis on Coastal Rock Structures, Fossils & Geomorphic Rock Formation. He is a well-known teacher & lecturer in this area. I spent most of my youth on the beach with him as he passed on his Geology knowledge onto me & I know Sardinia Bay inside out as we live very close by. My Dad taught me how to swim on this beach & I started swimming at 8 years old & started Surfing at 10 years old. I have rescued 3 people from drowning at Sardinia Bay, as there were no Lifeguards present. One person was swept 100m out by a rip current before I got to him, he surely would have drowned. I take pride in Sardinia Bay as I have traveled living in many countries abroad, it is one of the most beautiful natural beaches in the world. The pouching, dog poo, dogs not on leads chasing birds, plastic, glass & litter really gets to me, so I try do Beach Cleanups. I have many years of beach & ocean experience, I have studied with the South African official regulator & managing body FGASA through the Department of Tourism. I am an up to date legally qualified MARINE TOUR GUIDE.

My Dad - Wilhelm
Having studied Geology & been lecturing in this field for over 35 years my Father has spent a lot of time at Sardinia Bay passing on his Geological knowledge onto me. He has been on site showing me the rock formations, geomorphology & structures of the beach giving me in depth insight into the workings of this shore. No other Marine Guide or Marine Walk is going to give you this.
Here my Dad is showing me the remains of a 50m Former Higher Shoreline which could date back as far as 130 000 years ago during the inter - glacial Eemain Period on-top a moving Sand Dune which became exposed due to the prevailing summer East wind erosion. In a few months time the winter prevailing South Westerly winds will cover these unique remains which will no longer be visible.
